Adiel + Danni: South Broadway
Talented power couples are my favorite. My friend Adiel is absolutely going to be famous and you can say you were one of his OG fans if you start listening to him ASAP. Check out Adiel Mitchell on iTunes or Spotify. His latest EP "About Last Night" is such an addictive gem that you won't be able to stop blasting it this summer. You can follow him on Instagram @Adiellee for all of his latest music updates!
His girlfriend, Danni, is an incredible dancer, a naturally talented model, and has a heart and passion for giving back. She just got back from her second trip to Haiti where she volunteered at an orphanage. You can follow her on Instagram @Dannisimon11. Check out their love below!
Weddington Way: Jess DeoCampo Styled Santa Fe District
I always love shooting with my friend and fellow blogger Jess DeoCampo over at TheBixbyLane.com ! Check out her blog and her awesome giveaways! I am quite obsessed with this shoot and how it turned out. The dress looks amazing on Jess (of course!) and she was a fantastic model. Nothing can top the gorgeous murals and art around the city of Denver, I love making art with art in the background! I used some grain effects because I felt that like we were shooting a classic art film almost. I love how they turned out!
Kaitlin & Marcus: El Dorado Canyon Elopement
Joyce: Styled Red Rocks Shoot
You can tell that the joy on my friend Joyce's face so easily shines through in these photos. I think there's only a couple photos where she isn't smiling. She has such a fun, carefree personality that I admire. We had such a fun day with her sister, Dana, and our friends Jess & Demi! We trespassed, climbed things we shouldn't have in sandals and heels, and almost got hit by 50 plus cars. The things we do for a good shot!
Intimate in home session: Perkins & Steph
Welcome to my favorite blog post ever! I am so excited to share these images of my talented friend & co-worker (Perkins) and her equally talented wife, Steph. I think having the same name made us connect instantly. Throughout our shoot I started to ask Steph & Perkins how they met. I was genuinely just curious, but this was such a great time for them to not focus on posing or the camera- but be present with each other, as they both took turn explaining their story. (Continued below)
"Meet Cute": In film and television, a meet cute is a scene in which a future romantic couple meets for the first time.
The two met in New York City, where they were both living at the time. Perkins saw Steph from across the room at a morning party event (so cool) and thought "she is so gorgeous". She was actually too nervous to go up to her to say anything. (Continued below)
Let's just say their first date went well... (a 13 hour first date!) They stayed up all night, drank coffee until they couldn't anymore and canceled their plans and just became immersed with each other. (Continued below)
When Steph decided to propose, it was their last night in New York. She arranged for Perkins' best friend to take her outside at a party for a quick, heartfelt goodbye so that Steph could set up the room. Every person in the room (a giant room of strangers and some friends) grabbed a rose and formed a tunnel. When Perkins was led back into the room, she started grabbing roses out of the strangers hands, still having no clue what was going on. They led to Steph in the middle of the room, who had to shout "Will you marry me?!" because it was so loud! (Continued below)
They've been married for about 5 months now. They live in such an amazing neighborhood, I mean look at this rooftop view! They are surrounded by mountains, great restaurants, and art. Speaking of art, Perkins actually writes comics for DC Comics (Batwoman, Superwoman, Supergirl, so many powerful woman!) Steph could easily be one of these women, she is the strongest, most fit and motivated person you'll ever meet. She has such a passion for fitness, she teaches yoga as Popfitgo (Check out her events!) I can't wait to see her in action! (Continued below)
Thanks for checking out this sweet session, I wish you a Happy International Women's day!
May you make the women in your life feel special, beautiful, strong, and loved today!
Lena + Kyle: Colorado Wedding
Lena & Kyle met 6 years ago at work by a simple coincidence. Kyle had taken off a year from school and was working night shifts. Lena worked the day shift and they never should have bumped into each other. Kyle was asked to stay and help out on a morning shift and the rest is history! Railyn, their daughter, was about one year old when she met Kyle. Throughout the day, Railyn became my second shooter, always wanting to help out with taking photos and posing her mom and dad.
We began the day with a gorgeous first look at Lagerman Reservoir. Kyle mentioned that the only thing that went "wrong" on their wedding day was that it was actually "too nice" outside. Everyone expected snow, cold temperatures, and the girls even brought along shawls; while Kyle wore a wool suit. The day was beautiful, it was in the upper 60s! We had some fun with the bridal party as the group fled from an imaginary dinosaur (hilarious photo below!)
After photos were finished, we headed to the ceremony at The Oak Room at Oskar Blues. The group had some fun riding around on tricycles, having some beers made by Oskar Blues, and taking some gorgeous photos by the barrels. The ceremony began underneath a gorgeous "Colorado" sign as Lena's Dad walked her down the aisle. Lena and Kyle wrote and said their own vows, as their guests wiped away tears. Their vows perfectly summed up their easy-going, funny, and deeply loving personalities. They included Railyn in a special moment, where they both promised that they would always be there for her. Kyle and Railyn shared a special dance at the end of the night as he held onto her tightly, you could tell throughout the entire day that their bond is very strong.
After some extremely delicious food, four tear jerkingly sweet speeches, and an incredible night of fun dancing- the two left with a sparkler send off surrounded by their closest friends. The newly weds are honeymooning in Madeira, Portugal! It was such a pleasure capturing their day!
Rocky Mountain Bride: Jess Styled Shoot
This week, SM Photo is partnering with Fashion Blogger Jess Deocampo. The Bixby Lane blog features the fashion, travel, and adventures Jess. Jess is actually getting married later this year in California and agreed to model for me in the snow on a mountain today! These are some of my favorite photos I've ever taken! I can't wait for you to explore them! With these styled shoots, I'm hoping to express the importance of having a dedicated time on your wedding to focus on the details of your gorgeous dress and surroundings.
Lookout Mountain: Colorado Engagement Shoot
I am beyond excited to post this session with Mark and Ashley and their kiddos. The first shot here was totally unplanned, unscripted. Honestly, most of the best shots we got were because of their natural way of being goofy and fun with each other. I'm excited to shoot their wedding in October!
Pam + Will Colorado Shoot
Pam & Will just moved to Colorado from New Jersey and I am so glad they did! Their gorgeous shoot was postponed because of the weather, but we got so lucky and had a beautiful and a little unseasonal weather! Lair o' The Bear is one my favorite spots in Colorado, in the fall it has beautiful red and yellow leaves, unfortunately they have all fallen off at this point. But that didn't stop us from getting amazing photos! Their puppies were initially going to join us in the shoot (Lincoln and Bear) but Lincoln was feeling sick. Hopefully we will see them in the wedding photos! Take a look at this good looking couple!
Michael + Amanda Virginia Wedding
Once upon a time, a girl from Mount Airy, North Carolina fell in love with a boy from Mount Airy, Ohio.
When two theater families become one giant theater family after a wedding, you can be sure that 1. you will be entertained all night 2. the laughter and tears will start flowing immediately. During their ceremony, Amanda's Mom and Michael's Mom both read a touching tribute to their kids. They talked about Michael's innate love and sense of protection for his sisters. They talked about Amanda's love for reading (which seemingly placed her heart with Michael's) and also protecting her older sister from bullies on the playground.
Amanda realized he was the one the first time she visited Michael's house and saw in his room, her favorite childhood book series- which happened to be his too. Hopefully you can tell from the photos how much imagination and passion these two have in their hearts, which brought them together and makes them perfect for each other.
Emily + Brandon Kentucky Distillery Wedding
Emily and Brandon have such a great love story, that I had the chance to witness from its very beginning. Check out this Cincinnati/Kentucky wedding at Newport Distillery!
Cassidy + Michael Florida Beach Wedding
Cassidy and Michael's beach wedding was truly a dream come true for them. The sunset and perfect weather were just a plus, but their love for each other and their family was beautiful. Grab a Pina Colada and have a peak at this tropical Florida wedding.
Lauren + Alex Ohio Wedding
This July I was honored to photographed Lauren + Alex on their wedding day. Check out some of these images from their day at the Marmalade Lily in Loveland, Ohio!
